If you are thinking that ringworm is an insect or this disease is caused by biting of any worm- no, it is not like that. Ringworm is a fungal skin disease. The fungus which causes ringworm is called Tinea, which lives on dead tissues of the skin.

The most commonplace of ringworm is near the nails or on the scalp, but it may occur on another place of skin. In ringworm, your skin becomes red, itchy, scaly and after some time its shape becomes like a ring- that’s why it is called ringworm.

You can get rid easily from ringworm by using some home remedies which are very effective and even recommended by doctors.

Home Remedy For Ringworm:

Home remedy is a technique or treatment of any disease at home. You don’t need to go to the doctor or take medicines. Because of ringworm home remedy, you can easily recover your ringworm in just some days. And there are no side effects of those remedies. Some home remedies are given below:

Note: Be sure before using any remedy that you have no skin allergy because sometimes, some remedies can cause allergy of sensitive skin. You must check by applying that on your healthy skin. Otherwise, you will have to consult the doctor if you applied and you have sensitive skin.

1. Use Soap and Warm Water:

If you are affected with ringworm, the first step and remedy are to clean that area of skin. Usage: You need to clean the affected area with warm water and soap two to three times a day. After using water and soap, dry your affected area, because the growth of fungus always increases in a moist environment.

2. Aloe Vera:

In research on aloe vera, it is disclosed that aloe vera is very useful antiseptic and it has antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal qualities. And it is said that it is the best ringworm home remedy.

Usage: Extract the gel from aloe vera first and then apply that gel on your ringworm area. Use this four to five times a day.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is a strong antifungal. It is used in ringworm and all other fungal diseases.

Usage: Take a cotton ball and dip in undiluted apple cider vinegar and rub it on the affected area. Do this three to four times a day.

4. Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is not only good for hairs or the body, but it also has antifungal properties. It is very effective for ringworm, especially for scalp ringworm.

Usage: First of all, heat coconut oil until it melts and becomes liquid. Then apply it to the affected area and your skin will absorb it immediately. Use it minimum three times in a day.

5. Oregano Oil:

Oregano oil is also in the list of antifungal and it is also used in ringworm and fungal skin diseases. You have to buy it from a shop, and you get an extract form.

Usage: Take a few drops of oregano oil and mix it in coconut or olive oil then apply it on ringworm area. Use this remedy two to three times a day.

6. Grapefruit Seed:

Grapefruit seed extract treats fungal diseases, which was well studied in researchs.

Usage: Mix one drop of grapefruit seed extract in water and stir it, then apply it on the affected area times regularly.

7. Turmeric

Turmeric is full of benefits. It is anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal. It is also said that it is used in microbial diseases.

Usage: Make a paste of turmeric by adding a tablespoon in water, and apply it on the affected skin. If you drink it or take tea of turmeric, it gives many benefits to your body.

8. Liquorice Powder:

Powdered liquorice is very useful anti-fungal and anti-microbial.

Usage: Mix 7 to 8 teaspoons of liquorice powder in water, and boil it. After boiling, keep it on cooling for 5 to 10 mints. Make the paste by stirring. Apply a paste of ringworm affected area and leave it for 10 mints. Use this ringworm home remedy three times a day.

9. Neem Oil:

Neem is full of antifungal and antibiotic properties, and useful in many diseases as well.

Usage: Take a few drops of neem oil and apply it on the ringworm area. Do this remedy twice in a day.

10. Garlic:

It is studied that garlic has some antifungal properties and can use it on ringworm.

Usage: You need 2 cloves of garlic, which you can use to make a paste of garlic by using mortar and pestle. Then swab it on affected part, leave it for 10 minutes and then wash and dry your skin. Do this twice a day and after a couple of days, you will see rash starts to disappear.

Prevention:

It is a contagious disease. It spreads skin to skin. You can get it from someone. Things you will have to do are the following:

  • Clean your skin, and dry it immediately as I have already mentioned that fungus increases in a moist environment.
  • Don’t get close to someone who has ringworm
  • Don’t wear wet shoes
  • Take shower after the gym and sweating
  • Try to wear loose shoes
  • Change underwear and socks daily and wash them with surf
